Destiny Catalog Parental Access
At Sanger ISD, we believe families are essential in guiding their child’s learning journey. To support this, we are providing new tools that give parents more insight and involvement in their child’s library choices.
Sanger ISD uses Follett Destiny as our library management system. This system allows parents to actively participate in their child’s literary choices through a dedicated parent access portal. Parents can access information about their child's library activities by logging in with the email address registered in Ascender.
To request a link to create your parent portal, please fill out this form. Our District Librarian, Mrs. Moore, will email the link to you.
Parents can view their child’s current and past library activities within the portal. The interface provides a drop-down menu for families with multiple children, allowing for individual access to each child’s library records.
While district staff may assist in selecting library materials, the final determination of what is appropriate for each child remains with the parents/guardians. To support this, the library parent access portal includes features to:
-
Search for books by title or subject
-
Block specific books, preventing children from checking them out
If a student attempts to check out a book that has been blocked, the system will notify the library staff member immediately during the checkout process.
Parents and guardians are invited to discuss specific preferences or concerns regarding their child’s library material selections with campus library staff members or their child’s teachers through scheduled appointments. This collaboration is essential in fostering an environment conducive to educational growth and respecting family values.
Sanger ISD is excited to offer these enhanced features to our parents and guardians, ensuring they have the tools to effectively guide their children’s reading and educational journeys. If you need assistance accessing the library's parent access portal, please contact Christina Moore, our District Librarian.
As required by law, we have to provide parents with the option to restrict library book access for their child(ren), however, this is optional and not required.
If your child has moved to a new campus (i.e., moved from 8th grade to 9th grade), you will have to visit their new campus catalog to restrict titles, as each campus catalog only has books housed in that library.
Please note that if you have already created an account, you do not need to request the link again.
